One thing that stood out about Mclean, Koehler Sparks, and Hammond during the interview process was the emphasis on team value. It's been a joy working for MKSH my first few months here. In that brief period I've been warmly welcomed and well trained. I'm impressed by the caliber of professionals with which I work. One of the things that has pleased me most about McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond has been the flexibility. I started in the audit department of the firm in 2002 and switched to the tax department the following year. After having my first child, I went to an alternative schedule of four days per week outside of busy season. From the very beginning, I've received wonderful support from the entire tax department in order to maintain a part time schedule and to accommodate my day care needs. For example, they have allowed me to alternate my day off if needed and I've also alternated the day to suit client needs. The work-life balance is great and it keeps me motivated to do a good job. Another aspect of the firm that I'm always impressed with is the availability and accessibility of the managers and partners. Anytime I need to meet with the partner in our office, he makes himself available and gives me time to discuss issues. Even in the busiest of times, I know that I can go to him and he will take time out of his busy schedule to hear my concerns or give me guidance. It's this type of hands-on management that makes me feel cared about as an employee within the firm.
